"Simply better digital images"

Capturing Colour

Mission Statement

Grant Kernan is committed to bring every part of the process very close to perfection. The lens and its camera alignment, lighting, filtering, editing, printing and finishing must all be meticulously performed. If one component fails even a few percentage points then the whole process becomes unsatisfactory.

How We Capture the Color

Better Light scanning back cameraThere are a number of ways to capture your artwork. Film, flatbed scanners and digital cameras are the most common. We use a Better Light scanning back camera in a precision (Swiss) large format camera boasting an incredible 216-mega pixels. With an experienced eye, coupled with world class German optics, and a non-compromising attention to lighting and focus, we make some of the world’s finest digital photographs.

Look and See for Yourself:

Blue varnish artifacts and glare equates to lost detail. This is simply not "good enough" in my world. Glare from unidirectional lighting misrepresents this painting.

A Better Capture:
Then from a BL scanning camera.

This feels like you could almost reach out and touch the paint. Color, brushwork and the pallet knife texture are shown beautifully. This produces a stunning representation of the artist’s painting.
